Design price only, added to the manicure, overlay or extensions you book. The tier is set by the whole set and confirmed with you before the work starts.
One clean line, every nail.
A French is a line of colour along the free edge of the nail, and that line is the whole design: the same width and the same curve on all ten nails. At our Calgary studio it is added as nail art to a manicure, overlay or extension set, in classic white or in colour.
A French manicure paints the free edge of the nail in a contrasting colour, following the curve where the nail leaves the finger. That curve is called the smile line, and it carries the whole look: if it sits at a different width or height from nail to nail, the set reads as uneven however clean the colour is.
That is why a plain French is harder than it looks. On A Nude French Kept Deliberately Plain there is nothing else on the nail, so the line has to be identical ten times; on Black French over Hot Pink a wide black tip leaves any wobble nowhere to hide.
A French also leaves room for one accent nail: a small painted flower, a sprig with a single crystal or a blooming-gel flower, as on several of the sets above.

A French is nail art, not a separate service. It goes on top of the manicure and coating you book: a Flawless Russian Manicure with gel, a Gel Manicure or a set of Nail Extensions. Many French sets, fine glitter edges included, are priced as Simple Nail Art & Design; patterned tips, chrome edges and more detailed work usually move a set to Medium Nail Art & Design, and sculpted 3D designs to Complex Artistic Nail Art & Design. The tier is judged on the whole set and confirmed with you before the work starts.
Every look above shows its full price and books in one step. For a different French, book your manicure with the design and add a photo of the look you want.
A French is painted in gel, so it wears like the coating beneath it: two to three weeks on a thin levelling base, and three to four weeks over Gel Overlay or extensions. Long nails often need an earlier return, usually within two and a half to three weeks.
Every design tier is on our Nail Art & Designs page.
The two names describe the same look. At our studio the manicure itself is a Flawless Russian Manicure, and the French is the design added on top: over gel polish, over Gel Overlay or on extensions.
No. A French is nail art added to a manicure, overlay or extension booking, priced by the detail across the whole set: most French sets are Simple or Medium Nail Art & Design, and sculpted 3D work over a French goes higher. The tier is confirmed with you before the work starts.
Yes, kept narrow. A Nude French Kept Deliberately Plain and Pale Lemon French on Short Oval Nails are both short sets, and on A Glitter Line Where the French Would Be the tip is reduced to a single line so the nail keeps its length.
No. The smile line is what makes it a French; the colour in it is free. Our sets include green, pale lemon, black, red and gold or silver chrome tips.
As long as the coating beneath them: two to three weeks on a thin levelling base, and three to four weeks over Gel Overlay or extensions. Long nails often need an earlier return, usually within two and a half to three weeks.
Yes. Add a photo and a note when you book, and the technician sees them before your appointment.
