Gel nails in Calgary can mean five different things once you're actually choosing — a natural-nail overlay, a full set of extensions, a refill of length you already have, or one of two systems we don't work with but can point you to a documented, honest alternative for. This page exists to get you to the right one before you book.

Every option here is lamp-cured gel rather than traditional acrylic, and reinforcement and added length are separate decisions — nobody is upsold length they didn't ask for.

A new set of gel nail extensions on reusable upper forms, one chosen per nail, with length and apex shaped by hand rather than taken from a pre-made tip. Colour and top coat are included. It is also how a set is booked once its refill window has passed.

Which gel nails option in Calgary is actually yours

Reinforcement first, length second, is a Builder Gel Overlay (BIAB). It books as Flawless Russian Manicure with Gel Overlay added, and it is the right call when your own nails bend or break at the free edge and you want them kept and carried at short, medium or long rather than rebuilt on a form.

Length built on a form, including extra-long, is a Flawless Gel Nail Extensions — Full Set on reusable upper forms — 110–120 min, ten nails built individually rather than sized from a kit.

If you came looking for Gel-X or traditional acrylic specifically: we do not fit or repair pre-made Gel-X tips, and we do not work on traditional acrylic — not even for a single nail. In their place, upper-form gel extensions and polygel/acrygel add real length with the materials we do work with — a form-built Gel-X alternative for a tip search, polygel or acrygel for an acrylic search.

Extensions you already have get maintained inside the return window, not restarted. A Flawless Gel Refill keeps an existing set going — 80–90 min — booked within 28 days for short or medium nails, 21 for long and 17 for extra-long. If the refill window has passed, book a new Gel Overlay for natural nails or a New Full Set for extensions. The technician may assess nail condition and confirm the appropriate new service, but cannot approve an overdue refill.

Every option on this page is lamp-cured gel, not traditional acrylic — lower odour, and priced from what the booking system charges today, never a flat "from" figure that stops holding once you are at the table.

What stays the same across every option

Gel Overlay is worn for three to four weeks. Upper-form extensions are usually corrected after two and a half to three weeks, though some can reach three to four when length, nail condition and daily use allow. These are wear ranges, not the booking rule: a refill is available for 28 days on short or medium nails, 21 on long and 17 on extra-long; after that, an overlay restarts as a new Gel Overlay and extensions as a fresh Full Set.

Nail health comes down to technique rather than which material is on the nail: minimal filing of the natural plate, sharp regularly-replaced bits, no pressure or overheating, full removal of any lifting, and removal by material rather than by tearing, with a safe thin layer left rather than filing down to the natural nail.

Coating or gel we applied is removed free when you book a new service with us. Another salon's work is Complex Removal — twenty to forty minutes, paid in full, new clients included.

Should I choose Gel Overlay or a New Full Set?

Choose Gel Overlay when you want your own nails reinforced: the technician chooses the material after assessing the nail, and the overlay can build some length, normally short through long. Book a Flawless Gel Nail Extensions — Full Set for length beyond long, or to rebuild a missing part of a nail on an upper form.

When should I book a Gel Refill instead of a New Full Set?

Book a Gel Refill while your Gel Overlay or extension set is within its refill window: up to 28 days for short or medium nails, 21 days for long and 17 days for extra-long, counted from your last refill or new set to your appointment date. Regular refills keep the set in shape, and a refill costs less than a new full set. After the window, a Gel Overlay restarts as a new Gel Overlay and extensions as a New Full Set. If we can’t confirm your last visit or nail length, the studio checks before confirming. We refill only work we built: another salon’s extensions, Gel-X or acrylic are removed as a paid Complex Removal first.

Is a BIAB-style overlay good for my natural nails?

It starts with an assessment of your nails’ thickness, flexibility and any damage. The builder gel is then chosen for your length and nail condition: we use builder gels from DARK, DNKa’ and LUNAmoon rather than the original BIAB™. The work itself is gentle on the plate: minimal filing, no pressure or overheating, and removal by material, never by tearing, leaving a safe thin layer rather than filing down to the natural nail. The honest limit: it is a coating that needs upkeep, and it does not heal or treat a nail.

How long does Gel Overlay or a gel extension set last?

Three to four weeks of wear. To keep it in shape, book your refill within 28 days for short or medium nails, 21 for long and 17 for extra-long (Gel Overlay goes up to long). If a nail chips or lifts within five days of your appointment, we fix it free, up to three nails; the exclusions are in our policies.

Do you offer Gel-X or acrylic nails?

No, neither is offered, including repairs and single nails. For length we build upper-form gel extensions with a form chosen for each nail; where no form fits, the form lays down the length and the apex is built by hand. Where acrylic-level strength is the goal, we use lamp-cured polygel or acrygel, which has a low odour and minimal cure heat.

How much do gel extensions and refills cost?

Every service is priced with its time on our prices page and in online booking. Standard extra length, including extra-long, books at those prices; custom lengths beyond extra-long are assessed and priced at the appointment. Removing another salon’s work is a separate paid Complex Removal. Before any work starts, your estimated total and time are confirmed with you.
